In honor of Women’s History Month, OSI proudly highlights the remarkable contributions of two exceptional female orthopedic surgeons, Angela Walker, D.O. and Molly Black, MD, F.A.A.O.S.
Both women have made significant strides in Kansas City orthopedics, providing top-tier care to their patients while breaking barriers and inspiring future generations of female medical professionals.
Dr. Angela Walker: A Leader in Orthopedic Care
Dr. Angela Walker specializes in orthopedic foot and ankle care. As the only female fellowship-trained foot and ankle specialist in the Northland, and one of the few in the entire Kansas City area, she is making waves in a traditionally male-dominated field. Dr. Walker completed a specialized fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she honed her skills in advanced surgeries like flat foot reconstructions, ankle replacements, and Achilles tendon repair. She’s not only a dedicated surgeon but also an advocate for women in medicine, serving as an inspiring role model for future female surgeons in orthopedic care.
Dr. Molly Black: Pioneering Orthopedic Trauma Care
Dr. Molly Black is a trailblazer in the field of orthopedic trauma surgery, joining OSI back in 2022. With an impressive background that includes completing a Trauma Fellowship at Duke University, Dr. Black has dedicated her career to treating complex traumatic injuries. As a female leader in a male-dominated field, she paves the way for future women in trauma surgery. Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Black is deeply involved in advancing diversity and inclusion, ensuring that women’s voices are heard and represented in the medical community.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Female Surgeons
Dr. Walker and Dr. Black’s leadership in orthopedic care exemplifies the growing impact of women in the medical profession. As both women continue to shape the future of orthopedic medicine here in Kansas City, they serve as powerful role models for aspiring female surgeons everywhere. Their success underscores the importance of diversity in healthcare and highlights how female professionals are shaping the future of patient care.
At OSI, both surgeons embody a deep passion for advancing medical knowledge and ensuring that their patients receive the highest level of care. Their work and accomplishments are a reminder of the significant contributions women make to the healthcare field, particularly in the male-dominated arena of surgery.
