Biography
Dr. Steven Smith has been practicing orthopedic surgery in the Kansas City northland for more than 23 years. He is continuing his practice at OSI, orthopedics and sports medicine at their North Kansas City and Liberty offices. Dr Smith will continue to deliver care at North Kansas City Hospital, St Luke’s North Hospital, Creekwood Surgery Center and Total Joint Center of the Northland.
Dr Smith offers a broad scope of orthopedic treatments Including conservative and surgical care. He is a general orthopedic surgeon with a practice focus on hip and knee replacement, knee and shoulder sports medicine and surgery of the hand/upper extremity. He has served as team physician for Park University athletics for over 20 years. He served as a volunteer sideline physician for Park Hill and Park Hill South High Schools for 20 football seasons.
In addition to his clinical practice, he has served as President of the Medical Staff at both NKC Hospital and St Luke’s North. He has served as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at NKC Hospital and has served as the Chairman of the Orthopedic/Spine quality committee for nearly 10 years at NKCH. He served as the Chairman of Performance Improvement Committee at SLN for 10 years.
He is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University where he participated in varsity football. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed a surgical transitional training year at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines and finished Orthopedic Surgery residency at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 30 years, visiting his 3 adult children, playing with his boxer dogs and snow skiing.
