Biography

Ashley Shuck came to Orthopedic Surgeons Inc. in 2019, following graduation from the University of Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa, with a master of science in physician assistant studies. The focus of her thesis was on surgical treatment of slipped capital femoral epiphysis, which has been accepted for publication in the JBJS Journal of Orthopedics for Physician Assistants. She also earned a bachelor of science degree in ACS biochemistry from Winona State University, Winona Minn.

Growing up, Ashley was a competitive gymnast. As a result, she has had a number of broken bones and soft tissue injuries related to the sport. She believes her experience helps her relate to her patients and get to know them better because she can understand what they are going through.

While pursuing her education, Ashley served as a research assistant, and volunteered with AdventHealth (formerly Shawnee Mission Medical Center).

Ashley is certified as a physician assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Physician assistants have the education, knowledge and skills to care for a wide range of patient concerns. They are also educationally prepared to assess, diagnose and manage patient problems, including ordering tests and prescribing medicines.
